Reputable Regional Firm with Loyal Client Base

Suits Practitioners Seeking Autonomy, Lifestyle, or Expansion

UNDER OFFER

FEES: $880K

Reference: PPN00159

An opportunity well suited to a sole practitioner venturing out on their own, or as a ‘tuck in’ or secondary presence for an established firm.

This highly profitable long established firm serves predominantly small business clients with a focus towards SMSF accounting and tax. It has maintainable fees of $880K for FY 2026. The leadership is particularly hands on in the servicing of clients, with stability and the desire to service existing clients well perceived as more important than growth (although referrals are received from some financial planners and local Southern Highlands solicitors).

There are several new clients that will require servicing in the year ahead, offsetting some who have sold their businesses during FY 2024. The firm has also tended to decline reasonable degree of new work over the past five years due to the difficulty in sourcing appropriate personnel.

Revenue Snapshot
The firm’s tax lodgements totalled 560 in FY 2025, with an average fee of $1,352 per lodgement. These comprised:
  • 334 ‘I’ returns or 15% of fees
  • 15 partnerships
  • 55 trusts or 12% of fees
  • 67 companies or 24% of fees
  • 89 super funds or 24% of fees

Additional compliance work, with an average billing of just over $1K based on FY2025 data, included:

  • 3 small statutory audits and 85 SMSF audits (which are being sold separately)
  • 69 BAS
  • 180 corporate secretarial
Client Base and Fee Spread
  • There were 220 client groups serviced during 2025.
  • The average fee is around $4.2K per annum per group.
  • The distribution of client group revenue was as follows:

    • 20% of income was generated from fees in the range of $3K–$5K
    • 32% of revenue came from fees between $5K–$10K
    • 25% of revenue was from the $10K–$20K range
    • Just over 9% of income was from annual fees of $20K+

The top 20 client groups for FY 2025 contributed almost 35% of overall revenue, including the largest client at 5.2%. Three quarters of these groups are local to the Southern Highlands.

The age of the main contacts within these groups range from their mid thirties to seventy years of age.

As would be expected given the longevity of this firm, almost three quarters of these groups have been serviced by the firm for 20, if not 30 years.

Operations & Infrastructure
  • Software: The firm’s main software includes Xero PM, BGL, Microsoft and MYOB as well as other accompanying software.
  • Premises: The firm’s premises are around 100 m² and are leased from a related party. Whilst it’s not a necessity to take on the premises, it would be considered desirable for at least the short term.
  • WIP, debtors, and write-offs: All are performing better than market.

The firm’s leadership can remain for 1 – 2 years to assist with the transition of client relationships if preferred.
